W.E.B. Du Bois Regional Middle School

Week at a Glance, News and Notes

June 13-June 17, 2022

Note from the Principal:

Short and sweet again this week!  Fifth grade started their study of Loon Lake, our Science Week capstone investigation!   Sixth grade got back on track with the annual community grade day at French Park–great weather!  Many seventh and eighth graders participated in a voluntary student action to protest gun violence in schools.  And the entire seventh and eighth grade got to see a performance by the high school band and chorus students yesterday.

Next week is a busy one as we wrap up the last week of school.  I will send a more detailed note at the end of the week about summer, schedule mailings and information about next year.  We will also mail home report cards with additional information on the summer.  And I will send periodic email updates throughout the summer to keep families informed.

Please drop me a note if you have feedback or questions at ben.doren@bhrsd.org

Enjoy the weekend!

REMINDERS:

Family choice for student name and identity

Massachusetts now allows for families to tell their child’s school to use a different name for a student that is not the same as the name on the birth certificate and other legal documents.  Please use this form to tell us at the middle school that you want us to use a name for your child that is different from the legal documents we have from when you enrolled them at the school or in the district.  We will update our Student Information System, PowerSchool, with the information you tell us to use, so your child’s name appears as you direct.  If this is a legal name change, please provide the documents to us so we can make the update for the legal name of the student.  Email ben.doren@bhrsd.org if you have any questions about this form or this process.

Eighth Grade Graduation

We will hold middle school graduation in our traditional way for the first time in two years!  It will be on the regular day we usually hold it, the evening before the last day of school.  So graduation will be on Wednesday, June 15, at 6:30 pm in the gymnasium.  All eighth grade families are invited, as well as our faculty and staff.  There will be more information to come later this year, but I wanted you to know so you can plan for the big event!
